A Runaway Wife, Dad Preaches At Ombey, An A Skit At A School!

A young girl pumping water at the Ombey church
*The pictures of the little baby on this blog are of the abandoned baby that I wrote about in my last post.}

(Saturday February 4th)
Today Dad & Mom were gone all day, having a meeting with a husband an wife from our church, trying to bring reconciliation between the couple, since several weeks ago the wife decided to run away to look for a job supposedly.... So she has been gone for around a month an a half, an just tells her husband an three young sons at home, that she is ok, but is having a job somewhere else, she doesn't want people to know where she is, an got another phone number.
So just recently she let us know that she is back at her homeland with her father, an family.....So Dad & Mom get to go out to her family, with her husband John in tow, to see if they could talk it over, an somehow bring peace to the whole family.
Anna's (Johns wife) family was ready for a "fight", since they thought John was in the wrong...since in their culture if a wife goes home to her baba with a complaint an is unhappy with her husband that means big trouble for the husband.
The Ombey church, an Pastor Peter's car sitting outside.
So after much talking about it all, they came to a peaceful place in the chaos, an John paid more dowry to make peace between him an his father-in-law....I wasn't there so I don't have the whole story in detail, an I know a lot of you got the email Dad sent around with the whole story in there, but seems Anna had her reasons for leaving her home, since she was molested by a fellow clan member, but running away an disconnecting herself from her family wasn't the right thing to do either....so pray for Dad as he works through all of the things a situation like this involves.

In the afternoon, once my baking was done, I joined all the other girls at St. Johns pool.
In the evening we went to Lester's for supper at 6pm. Dad an Mom joined us shortly after we had started eating...we had a good evening.
(Sunday February 5th)
Today Dad went to preach at Ombey church, for pulpit exchange, Ombey is a small church with all national brothers leading out in it.
It was an interesting day...Dad preached about David an Goliath, an then our family went up an sang a song for the church there.
An older widow coming late for the service
Several brothers from our church in Nyakoko surprised us by showing up there, an giving their support.
Afterwards we went to one of the members houses for lunch.
In the evening Stan an I went to hippo point to see the sunset.
(Monday February 6th)
Today I took Mom to the dentist, an waited for her there for several hours....she broke out one of her front teeth an is getting it fixed.
Then I took her to another stop in town, then came home in the afternoon, I furiously worked on the blog determined to get it out on Monday.
This evening we were just at home, some were playing spike ball on the lane.
(Tuesday February 7th)
Today I did our laundry in the forenoon.
Dad left on his motor bike to visit some people from church, that were causing some problems.
Mom was just around home, writing letters to her siblings at home who don't have any electronics to communicate with.
In the afternoon I went swimming with Becca an Londa.
We were just around home in the evening....I went walking again tonight.
Back with the brothers again...
(Wednesday February 8th)
Today I stayed at home with the three bros, while Dad & Mom went to Bible Study.
I was just cleaning, baking granola, an then I went walking in the evening...then some of us played spike ball on the lane for awhile after dark...
(Thursday February  9th)
I slept in today since I wasn't able to sleep till 5am. this morning....groan!
Mom went to the dentist to see about getting her tooth fixed that broke, we think it might have something to do with the water here, that her already weak teeth seem to be growing weaker...
Daniel in the pink shirt giving devotions...
We cleaned a lot today because of having the unit compound prayer meeting at our house this evening....Right after prayer meeting Lesters family left to go to the airport to pick up their two daughters an Son, who just flew in from Nairobi to Kisumu for a one month stay.
Their two daughters Becca an Londa had been here for awhile already, but decided to take a bus an go to Nairobi to spend some time with their brother there, who just flew in from America, the trio then made the thirty min. flight to Kisumu together the following day.
(Friday February 10th)
Today was a busy day....Dad & Mom left with Bishop Joseph for an all day meeting with a very troubled couple in our church...us youth left around 11am. with most of the other youth an Bishop Wayne, an Joe's family, for a day of visiting people out in the bush....And also to do a book distribution at two schools....us youth collaborated a skit, an enjoyed doing it almost as much as the children enjoyed watching us, it was about the good Samaritan.

Pastor Peter in the dark blue shirt
It was a long hot day, but we enjoyed it!
In the evening we got back from our day with a flat tire, so we came to the compound just in time to refresh ourselves, and then leave again to go eat supper together at a really amazing Asian restaurant called "big bites" they have yummy Paneer an naans!
We then had volley ball an spike ball in the evening out on the lane.
And that concluded another week here in Kenya! how can time go this fast!? I guess time flies when your having fun...an we are sure enjoying our time here.
Have a wonderful week!
