Hello to each one who takes the time to look at my blog, I appreciate it a lot, an would love to hear from more of you how you enjoy my posts, an how I could improve them, to give you a better look into our lives in Kenya. (One probably being to post more often then once every three months! I know!)
I added a picture post of the wedding, because I felt like the pictures I had were very low quality, so I asked Clarissa Yoder (Wedding photographer) if I can have her pictures of the wedding, an she was ever so kind to allow me to use them here, to give my circle of friends a better look into Victor an Winnie's wedding day.
I hope you all have an amazing weekend,
I will be posting a song at the bottom here that has been blessing me over an over every time I hear it. lets stand together in the important things, an leave the personal preferences, knowing that the unimportant things we fight about will not have any meaning in 100years from now.

                                                                  ~CITY ON THE HILL~
"Did you hear of the City on the hill?"  said one old man to the other. That once shone bright, an it would be shining still. But they all started turning on each other.

You see the poets thought the dancers were shallow, an the soldiers thought the poets were weak, an the elders saw the young ones as foolish, an the rich man never heard the poor man speak.

And one by one they ran away, with their made-up minds to leave it all behind. an the light began to fade, in the city on the hill, the city on the hill.

Each one thought that they knew better, but they were different by design. Instead of standing strong together, they let their differences divide.

And one by one they ran away, with their made-up minds to leave it all behind. an the light began to fade, in the city on the hill, the city on the hill.

And the world is searching still.....
But it was the rhythm of the dancers, that gave the poets life, it was the spirit of the poets, that gave the soldiers strength to fight, it was the fire of the young ones, it was the wisdom of the old, it was the story of the poor man that needed to be told.

It IS the rhythm of the dancers that gives the poets life! It IS the spirit of the poets that gives the soldiers strength to fight! It IS the fire of the young ones! It IS the wisdom of the old! It IS the story of the poor man that's needing to be told!

But one by one.....will we run away? with our made-up minds to leave it all behind, as the light begins to fade, in the city on the hill.......The City on the Hill.
Come home......come home.....The Father is calling still! come home.....come home....To The City On The Hill.....COME HOME.

Be Blessed,
~Sylvia

CBYC Bible School, A Wedding, And Another Holiday In Kenya!

January 2nd 2018
Good afternoon from Kenya! After a treat of an overnight refreshing rain, in the heat of dry season, we woke up to a cool refreshing morning.
So since I finished the laundry, an have it flopping in the breeze out on the wash line, my guilty conscience, thought about the blog...so here I am!
I can in no way tell you everything I would want to tell you all about the last several months, but I'll try an say a few of the highlights.

Having The Lyndon Hershberger family here was a tremendous blessing, being with our Mennonite youth, an having a blast was more encouraging then they will ever know! thanks again for coming you guys!
Going to the Mara an seeing the big five, the boys hiking a mountain an staying on top overnight, an riding piki's around town, was some memories we wont forget anytime soon.

Also attending our annual Bible school in Nakuru was a nice time.
It was a great 12 days, an also the hardest 12 days I have faced in a long time, seeing myself an my life in a way I have not seen in a long time, it was a time of being with friends, but also a time of analyzing where I'm headed with my life. I came home seeing my need of Jesus in my life. its so scary to me how quickly we can cool off an become luke-warm in our Christian life, an somehow push our relationship with God on the back shelf, keep praying that I could continue to make changes where I need to in my life. Being a missionary doesn't make you a Christian, that's for sure.

Also another highlight recently was the wedding of my close friends Victor an Winnie, I really enjoyed their special day, an I know they did even more.
It reminded me so much of when my sister got married, Winnie an I are really close, an she is like my real sister, so it felt the same in my heart to see her getting married, seems when close friends get married, although your so happy for them, it does somehow feel so bitter-sweet.
The wedding was very nice,

in my opinion anyway, other then starting really late, but we all knew it was Kenya after all. hahha.

Dad an Mom are busy as always with the work in the church, On Sunday we reorganized for church duties, an had three testimonies of Instruction class applicants who are wanting membership.
Then afterwards there is the usual requests for money, for food for a family who has nothing in the house for lunch after church, hand some pain killer to a man with typhoid, an so you finally drive home, wondering if you will ever be able to meet all the needs? an if you made the right choices at the times you had to tell someone no...what would Jesus do, is sometimes a perplexing question, because Jesus knew their hearts an their very intentions an thoughts, we don't. But I know God will show us an make a way.

The twins left the day before Christmas for America for around 6weeks planning to attend the Bible school in Arkansas called CBS, we miss them but also pray that they could find an enriching time while they are there. We cant wait to hear their stories.

So I hope each one of you has enjoyed your holiday season, an hugged your family an friends alittle tighter an thanked God that you had them another holiday season.

See you all again later, would love to hear from more of you.
Thanks,
~Sylvia
