My Trip To America, Back Home Again, And Election Tensions!!

Rhoda And Kalita
Hello People!
Hope everyone is enjoying their life, watching summer turn into fall...
I got back from my two week four day stint to America...the normal questions from people in America ranged from: How was/is it to be back in America? Did you have culture shock when you got back to America? How is it to go back to your youth group, an church? Is the food in America good again? an on, an on, an on.

But most of the time I was just trying to grasp the fact that I'm even back in America again, an trying to get over jet-lag, an wondering if I'll soon wake up, an realize it was all just a dream like I did so many times before.
But no, it was for real, an yes it was wonderful to be back home, but at the same time I missed Kenya, an my Kenyan friends like crazy. Did I have culture shock in America? Yes! I did. I always thought I would never have culture shock, like "Those other missionaries" simply because I lived in America all my life, an missionaries that came home an had culture shock were probably not totally okay when they left...but no, here I was the return missionary in shock! things I noticed were the SMOOTH roads, I simply sat in awe at how fast the car glided over the pavement, I felt stupid for being enthralled with something so....so...senile? I guess that's the right word? Everyone drove such nice vehicles. People are so fat. sorry for saying that, but wow the people are huge-mungus. The food was too sweet an rich, but yes it was good. But the truth be told I missed Kenyan food so much, an made sure to eat a good Kenyan meal before I left, I love the food here, most of it anyway.
So in short, it was awesome to be back in America, to see my friends, who were dating when I left, toting around their babies, an to see everyone, but towards the end, I just wanted to get back home, were my family was, an my Kenyan friends, an what was familiar to me for the last year an a half.
Donut making...
America was good, but everything was so different, people change, time goes on, an I know once we return there will be so many adjustments. But God will help us to adjust when we return, I know.
I really enjoyed spending the first whole week with my sister, her husband an two little girls, it was strange to see their little house for the first time, since they have moved to an outreach since we left, an to go to their church, but it was good.
The next week was spent at my home church area, seeing old friends, an living in "my" house, with my uncle an aunt who are living in our house, an taking care of our business while we are gone.
I felt so blessed with their heart of serving God through taking care of our business, while we are on the mission field, they could make better income somewhere else I'm sure, but they choose to be committed, an that's something that goes a long ways with us, since we cant be there.

So the flights to an fro were fairly uneventful, we didn't miss any flights, an thanks to Rhoda's organized brain, she kept me on track.
I would like to throw out one tip for long travel hours, (But only if you are with someone else.)
{Sleeping Pills!!} for sure if you have problems with sitting in a tight little seat, with your knees touching the seat in front of you, an a stranger breathing down your back, an not being able to move much at all. I personally find sleeping difficult in those circumstances, but maybe there are some rare birds out there that can zonk out, an block all noise of coughing, babies lamenting, an people brushing past you in the aisles, an those stewards an stewardesses, forever rattling their carts up an down the aisles, serving drinks, pretzels, an other cardboard like substances to tired, irritable, an travel worn, victims.
But thanks to my sleeping pill, I would sleep soundly for hours, an regain conciseness enough, to hear Rhoda saying "I don't think she will take any food this time." hahah I couldn't wake up! the one time I did wake up to a smiling stewardess, with too much make-up on, an creepy red lips, staring down at me, asking if I would like some water, "sure I would like some" I said trying to act normal, but feeling like my brain was full of glue an my eyes couldn't focus...she gave me the cup of water, an leaning closer ask me in a subdued an serious tone, "Are you okay dear?" I quickly said "yes" so she would leave me alone, an she was infact asking entirely too many questions for someone who just woke up! An I was indeed fine as could be, I just happened to be a traveler with a lot of sleeping pills along, an conquered their torturous plane ride, an they were not used to seeing that! hahaha she then said, "seems like your really getting your sleep!" haha yeah more or less I thought, but only half smiled back at her like an idiot because my brain was all foggy, an I was trying to process what she was saying, but soon fell asleep again, I must say the trip seemed shorter then I figured.
Anyway, thankfully Rhoda was there to wake me up when we had to move, our flights were, first a one hour flight to Nairobi, then a eight hour flight to Amsterdam, an another nine hour flight to Atlanta, a hour flight to Nashville, an a five hour drive to Sharon an Andre's house. Lets say I was ready to be able to lay in a soft bed, an run, an jump, anytime I wanted! but that's what world travel is like, I guess I just haven't done enough of it, an I get all unglued about the toll it takes, on your patience, Christianity, mental state, your bottom, your ego, an various other things.
I got home an jet-lag on this side wasn't nearly as hard as on America side.
We got home Saturday morning after landing in Nairobi an sleeping there for several hours before we got up again at 4:30am. I had been able to take both my check-ins from America to Nairobi, for free, the one weighed 56lb. an the other 70lb. but then the short flight from Nairobi to Kisumu they were going to charge me $150.00 USD for them, but thankfully the luggage attendant was in a good mood, an said that that was way too expensive, even though that was the price he was supposed to charge us, he said in a quieter voice, "give me $40.00" as he tied tags on that said both weighed 20lb. hahaha I grinned an knew I was back home in Kenya! I then slipped him some small cash as a bonus for his discount, he faintly grinned in thanks, then adjusted his tie an continued with the next people in line, we just made it to our plane, because of the delay at the baggage counter.
We went to church on Sunday of course, an got to see all our friends, we had a children's choir there, that was quite interesting to say the least, an one little boy, beating a stick on an empty water can, for the music as the children sang, I sat there wishing everyone of my friends, in America would get to be there with me, an have that cultural experience.
Sunday night I went to the lake with three of my native friends, for a picnic, an games, I had brought them some gifts back from America, that was so fun to give them gifts! the greatest source of entertainment for me was, one of my friends had told me to bring back candy from America, but he said it had to be a kind that they don't have in Kenya, so I brought alot back but, seeing them try pop-rocks for the first time was the best! they sat there with their eyes big, then one of them sputtered, that it "feels like small bombs in my mouth!" haha I also brought some of those gummy eggs you can buy at most bulk food stores, an I told them in a very serious tone that, these were eggs from American chickens, I proceeded to make up my story as I went, an said that the chickens that lay these eggs are very small, an that as soon the egg is layed we deep fry the egg`, an that's how the gummy eggs are made. they stared at me, but I couldn't look at them because I was almost busting with laughter.
Then one of them said, "Sylvia I know you, an you are telling me a lie." I burst out laughing at my own joke, an they grinned abit an said they never believed me anyway, but the silence between my joke an him asking me if I was serious, was long enough to satisfy me. I told them I know they believed me for a little bit at least, they strongly objected, but I told them I thought my joke had been a huge success! haha
So on Monday I did laundry, then rushed to see some of my friends along ring road, since I knew with the presidential elections on Tuesday I might not be able to see many of them for weeks maybe...they were happy I made it back.
One of them wondered how Trump was, since when I left they had told me to greet Trump for them, I tried to explain to them that even though I was a white person, Trump didn't have time for the likes of me.
Anyway, Tuesday was interesting, we were all sitting tight inside the compound here, an as of today (Thursday Afternoon)  we still don't know the results. We only see helicopters flying over head, an hear of tear gas being shot to disperse crowds.
I have found the roof of our house to be a nice look out, today we saw the heads of soldiers going past, fitted out in riot gear, Stacy an I clambered up on our tile roof in time to see 8-10 military men, riding past on horses, we were shocked! since there are no horses in Kisumu, it is too hot for horses an they simply don't do well here.
So that was kinda neat...but it does get alittle boring having to stay inside the compound all day, but on Tuesday all the ladies made tons of donuts an apple fritters, then we had an MZL open house, so everyone could come see all the books they sell there, an buy what we wanted, an of course we all feasted on donuts an coffee.
In the evening I had supper with Rhoda an Stacy, then we sat around our fire pit, as it was chilly, an had some great conversations with Dad an Mom.
The rest were out on the lane playing spike ball, an sitting around chatting about this an that.
So on Wednesday the ladies had an all day sewing, I didn't go sewing, but did random other jobs, an worked on my blog, only to loose most of it an had to retype it today...
So we keep us in your prayers, that the elections could be peaceful, we pray that whoever looses would except it an move on, without war an killing.
Have a wonderful week an thanks so much for all your love an support while I was in America, it means more to me then you will ever know.

Random Ramblings, Ladies Day, Elections Coming!

Hello people!
Typical Kenyan...
This weeks post will just be mostly pictures, with alittle explaining about what we did...the week was very normal so your not missing a lot, by not getting the day by day update. just saying.
Also, as most of you might know by now, I planned a short notice trip to the states, from July 17th - Aug. 5th so I'm rushing around to get everything done I want to get done before I go to the states, so quite frankly this lousy writer doesn't have time to keep a journal these days thus this little letter.
I cant wait to go to the states, although I know I'll miss home here like crazy, an my friends here think 2 weeks an 4 days is way too long to be away. I'm planning to be in my home church the last week end in July.
Anyway, this week was fairly normal, like I said before.
On Sunday we had a ladies day, we hesitate to call it a "Mother/daughter" day with so many orphans in the church, so we had a ladies day, an Stacy went with us to help us pull off the day's events.

At Victors house for supper with some other youth, an his girlfriend.
After the usual church service, we took all the dresses that we got from the generous church people from home, an let each of the ladies an girls pick out a dress, what fun! they were so grateful for you people from America who sent dresses for them! some of the orphans girls that come to church, had to wear tee-shirts under their dresses because the zipper was not working, an the front of the dress would slide down, an they had to throw it over their shoulder repeatedly! I felt so sorry for them, an to see the looks of sheer delight on their faces to get a dress from America with no holes in it, was just incredible! so thanks a lot for sharing from your closets to our church people.
After dividing the dresses, we had a little snack of popcorn, mondozies, an chia.
then we headed home, we got home around 3:30pm which was actually surprisingly early.
The last robbers climbed these poles an tilted the camera's down, they won't be doing it again.
Marlin's were just leaving for Nairobi with Joes when we got back, flying back to Greenville Tn. after taking care of Joseph's church while they are on furlough, Joe an Glenda will be staying in Nairobi waiting for Wayne's who are returning from their 6 week furlough to the states, on Wednesday.
Joseph's come back in 2 weeks.
So yesterday was "family Day" so our family decided to go to Rusinga island, an Island that is close to us.
We took Stacey along with us, since she didn't have anything going on, an Rhoda was with her visitors.
We had an amazing day! we drove on the fairy an crossed the span of water to the island about a 45 min ride, then we went to an amazing resort there, an had lunch there by the water, it was so beautiful an relaxing! then after lunch Stacy an I rented Kayak's an went way out on the big lake, while my brothers thought that to be too boring an rented a jet ski close by...however riding those big waves in a little kayak was the most awesome thing I have done in a long long time! Mom was on the shore worried stiff that I would have a seizure while I'm out there, but thankfully all turned out well, an I enjoyed myself so much!!
Steve finishing up his work for the day...
The elections over here are gearing up...pray for us, as we wait them out, Rhoda an I are flying back just days before elections so pray all could go okay, usually the riots happen after the elections, so we are hoping for the best.
We are stocking up on food, for people, chickens, an dogs, since going outside of the compound during elections is not recommended. We pray it can be peaceful, in 2008 it was really bad, so everyone is a little apprehensive. But we trust God will keep us safe, if it is his will.
Okay, let me stop my ramblings now...I'll add some pictures an try to explain them to you.
Have a wonderful week...Hope to see some of you all in several weeks! SO excited!

Bible Study In Bondo, Kitten In My Covers, Youth Meetings In Aroba!

(Saturday June 24th)
I am feeling alittle blue about this post...I lost all my pictures from this last week that I wanted to add to this post, plus my journal is not current, so this will be a little randomness thrown together into a post.
Today Mom an I made breakfast for the rest, then we went on a little Mother Daughter shopping venture...It was a good time! And we ate out at our favorite Kenyan restaurant which made us happy.
We were just at home in the evening, we had supper, an Dishon washed vehicles, an then joined us for supper, staying overnight again.
(Sunday June 25th)
Today Aroba youth had invited, Rabour, an Nyakoko youth to join them for Sunday services, so that was interesting, we had youth Sunday school together, then after church they had lunch for the youth, it was a fun day, an seeing all my friends again was the best, I took some banana bread along for some of them...an to see their faces light up about it was the best feeling ever! In Kenya friendship=Banana bread, they love that stuff like really much!! haha
(Monday June 26th)
Today I worked on the blog...Then I took the dress down to the sewing ladies to have Pamela help me sew the skirt since it is a two layer skirt that I had no idea how to put together, that took up most of my afternoon. But I knew I needed to get it done since the wedding is the 22nd of this month.
(Tuesday June 27th)
Today we were mostly just at home getting things ready for supper, Marlins family were coming since we had not had them over since they came to fill in for Joseph an Becky who are on furlough.
Mom was gone most of the forenoon, helping to move the furniture an things from Deans house into the compound, then we cleaned an made food in the afternoon, I grilled some chicken for supper.
We had a nice time with them, an are sad to see them go back to the states in several weeks.
(Wednesday June 28th)
Today Stacy an I went to A Bible study of one of Kajulu's members Pamela, but she wanted to invite us to her home, an it was a two hour drive from Kisumu, so we had to take two vehicles, an load all the members in that wanted to go, Marlin drove a van, an Stacy took a small crossover vehicle, filled to the brim with people.
We had a good day, an makes me so sad I lost all the pictures of that day!
They made a feast! they had, Ugali, rice, fish, beef dry, beef stew, intestine soup, chapattis, cooked cabbage, an on an on, then after we finished eating, they brought chia an mondazies....we were stuffed to the gills!
Bible study went great, Marlin of course teaching, then we started our long drive back home.
It was a long tiring day, but it was a lot of fun too.
(Thursday June 29th)
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SHARON AN ANDRE!!!
Today was an unusual day for us, we woke up to rain pattering on the roof, an it was COLD! I felt like staying in my warm bed all day! but then again we are just spoiled rotten, with always waking up to beautiful mornings with the sun shining brightly.
Today our family all went in to a clinic to get our blood types taken, I just hate needles an the prick hurt like it always does...cringe!
This evening, we had prayer meeting at Marlins, it was a good evening, an the singing somehow was exceptionally good.
(Friday June 30th)
Today one of our youth guys had a playing match with another school, in volleyball an soccer, so we went to watch an cheer for the Ahero team, it was a fun day, of meeting all his friends, an climbing into his world of school, an sports, an his friends.
tonight Brian's An James's had a ice cream party for the compound in a way of saying thanks for all the snacks they received during language classes, when they would have their 10am. break.
After the snack there was some volley ball, then because of more rain an cold weather we all went home around 9:45pm.
Tonight I found a little kitten, it was so fluffy an cute, I didn't even know I liked kitten's, but this one somehow just melted my heart into a little puddle, so I put it inside my coat while I was outside watching the rest play volley ball, then I brought it home, tried giving it some milk, an stuff it into the shower, much to its dismay, I gave it a bath, wrapped it in a towel to dry off, then jumped into bed with it, it was so cute, an its purring sound was kinda neat! the only problem was it thought the perfect place to sleep was right under my chin against my neck, an that was okay for a bit...but I fell asleep, an awoke with a start freaking out about this fur ball right by my head, an it felt like I couldn't breath! so I tried placing it away from my head several times, but nope, it would come over top of the pillows an right back where it had been, it was such a tiny little thing, that I was petrified I would somehow lay on it an smother it to its grave, so I  gently placed it on a pillow beside my bed, wrapped in a blanket, where it slept, till around 7am. when I was rudely awakened by a scratching, clawing noise! I open my eyes a peek, an here the fluffy little thing was clawing its way up the side of my bed, only its head peeping over the side of my bed, was about the sweetest thing I've seen in a while, then next thing it leap into my bed, but I wasn't finished with my sleep since it was Saturday, so I took her outside....an I think I'll leave her there for a while.
I honestly don't even know what possessed me to bring that kitten into the house, but it was so cute, an the way it lapped at the milk, an chased my ear buds around as I was untangling them was just the cutest, I did loose sleep though to...not again...or not anytime soon, will a kitten join me in my slumbers.
So that is about all I remember of this week...
Hope I'll have a more interesting post next time...I want to see if I can put some pics from my phone to the post, but this old laptop can be kinda ridiculous about such things sometimes.
Have a wonderful good week!

Grilled Chicken, Father's Day, An A Cancer Patient Finds Help...

(Saturday June 17th)
This work of scrapping the weeds beside the lane, was all done by this blind man.
Today we all slept in except Dad who was in his study, when I got up the boys were still in bed, so I went to town to do several things, then I came back around 11:30am. then all of us compound girls decided to go swimming, we then got back around 2:30....in the evening we went to eat some grilled chicken for Father's Day with Dad...So it felt like a very relaxing spoiled day for me, for sure.
(Sunday June 18th)
Today we left together early for church, we picked up a youth guy, called Evans in Ahero to take him to church with us, since he is attending school right now to become a mechanic.
We had a good service, an tried to explain to them what Father's Day was, some of them knew...
My Brothers an I then sang a song "Daddy's Hands" an all day I felt guilty for the many times I take my Godly father for granted, seeing the many many orphan children an youth sitting there never having the privilege to have any kind of Father figure in their lives, some live with their mothers because their fathers just up an left them sitting, tired of their wife an ready to move on....leaving children an youth, with hurts, an trust issues that will hinder them the rest of their lives...God help us!

The cooks making lunch.....Jacinta an Beatrice here.
Dad then had a message on the Devils ways, of lying an deceiving, an also Satan's many different names...quite interesting, an thought provoking to me, that whenever I choose to sin, instead of doing the right, I'm actually submitting myself under the most awful, evil, authority imaginable! yet how many times do I not see my choices in such a black an white sort of way.
We got home an since tiredness was more prevalent then hunger, I slept instead of eating lunch, I haven't been able to sleep the best the last while, so it leaves me feeling worn out most of the time.
Anyway, after a good nap, I went on a long walk with Rhoda...an in the evening it was spike ball on the lane again.
(Monday June 19th)
This morning I did our laundry, after I took care of the sewing class, getting fabric, zippers, buttons, etc.

Before.
Then after I finished the laundry I went to town to get my phone fixed, Stan accidently had slammed a seat in the vehicle down on it, an warped the phone, so that the cover wouldn't stay on the phone, thankfully they fixed it.
After that I worked on making another dress for one of my friends...in the evening we went to Marlins for a yummy supper, with American imported foods, since they just came from America.
(Tuesday June 20th)
I got up early an put away the laundry, then went to get the sewing ladies started, since Stacy has visitors right now, she had asked me to take care of the sewing class, an I enjoyed doing that.
In the afternoon I did some more sewing of my own...then in the late afternoon evening we went with Richard an Janet to see the various places that we will be picking up the bride an bridesmaids, an the hotel where we will pick up the groom, an his groomsmen, also went to see where the church house was an took a tour of it.
After our orientation, the twins an I left, an went to KFC for some supper.
Tonight I called Sharon an enjoyed chatting with her for some time.
After.
(Wednesday June 21st)
Today was church clean-up day at our church, Dishon went with us to help, Kevin from Aroba helped for an hour or so too, since we gave him transport from Kisumu to Nyakoko.
We had a good day, of hard work, the twins an some of the youth guys repaired the roof in the front of the church where the truck for the orphans food program backed into, Stacy an I did some painting, took water to the workers, an helped prepare lunch...after lunch we cleaned everything up again, I washed most of the dishes, an scrubbing those big cooking pots made me thankful for "lifetime cookware" that we have at home, that takes minimal cleaning!
My little man Andrew, who doesn't like me. or anybody, other then his mom an oldest sis
After we were finished the three bros an I took one vehicle home, Dishon also came back with us, an we were going to drop him off at the clinic he works at, but then him an his fellow worker Kevin, said they needed a ride to go see a sick patient that was dying of uterus cancer, she is a 19 year old girl, but looks like an older lady, she has known of her cancer for 7 years now, an has been trying to make some funds, an save money to do the operation but never was able to get enough money for the $150 US dollar operation...sigh....does this mind blowing poverty ever end?
She had to sign some documents so that the Doc. could move ahead with her operation, since someone has consented to pay for her surgery of a hysterectomy.
After leaving the clinic, we went to town to pick up some chicken feed, an by the time we reached home, we were all so tired! We were just at home tonight, going to bed early.
Working here in the "kitchen."
(Thursday June 22nd)
Today I was cleaning one of the guest rooms from visitors, then I did the blog, after that there was more sewing to be done...I cut out the dress for the wedding in July, in the evening we all went to Joe an Glenda's house for unit prayer meeting, we sat around the campfire an sang an prayed, then afterwards had a little snack, it was a great evening, an a welcome change from the usual prayer meeting agenda.
(Friday June 23rd)
Today I did some sewing...yeah that's all I do these days.
then I decided to go with Dad to see a well project that was going on out at our church, they were fixing our well at church...so we had lunch together at a little bean shack, an made the drive out to church, an when we got there they had finished already, so we only inspected it, then took the workers of the well, (Some of which are members at our church.) to the little ghost town of Masogo, we sat at Jared's (a Member) sewing shop where he sews school uniforms, an drank some soda, an ate some homemade fries that a lady was deep frying over an open fire, as we watched people milling about buying each others wears, as it was Masogo market day, there are all manor of fish, rice, green grams, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, shoes, clothes, an on, an on...it was interesting to meet up with our church people at their local "Walmart" as they supported each other by buying from each other an selling to each other.
Cutting up the chicken for lunch...
We left again an headed for Kisumu...On our way home our car was having some problems, it would just shut off all of a sudden, an so the one time while we were in the passing lane passing a semi, with another semi coming head on, the car again just quite, nothing. and Dad struggled to get it steered over in the other lane just in time as the semi that was coming head on whizzed by, but just like that is started back up again...so we breathed a sigh of relief, an drove on home, coming home just in time to leave again, we were invited out for supper with Joe an Glenda, and the youth, Marlins also went along. After we got back there was spike ball on the lane.
And so ended another week in Kenya, the place we have come to call home.
carrying things the way they do here...

Visitors Everywhere, Sour Kraut, An A Sleep-Over....

(Saturday June 10th)
Today we slept in except Dad an Mom who went to that funeral.
Richard an Janet an their two sons....
The twins were working around the compound...
I went swimming with my native friend Winnie an her niece Sarah as well as Rhoda, Stacy an her visiting cousin Kendra, (Who is presently serving as a school teacher in Nicaragua.) also came later for a swim.
I got back an made some mashed potatoes for supper, since we have this amazing thing called cream cheese ever since Calvin's came...thanks to amazing friends from home! We eat things from home almost reverently! not even joking!
Anyway, after that I ran to nakamatt to get some sausages, then I tried making some sour kraut, only I tried making it instant sour kraut, instead of letting it sour, I thought it was amazing, but everyone else was less then enthused, I think Wayne liked it, however Dad asked for more mashed potatoes instead...hahaha
Dishon was here for supper an for the night again.
I was tired so I went to bed early again...
(Sunday June 11th)
Today we all went to church early with Dad, since we don't have many extra vehicles, it makes it easier to all go early, an just stay while Dad has IC class...
Steve an his Masii friend David...this picture reminds me how much this culture has changed us, I'm pretty sure at home Steve would not have sat beside his friend with his arm around him like this...but that is so much like the culture here is....if you are their friend u stay close together when talking.
It was a very normal Sunday, I tried putting up the do-re-mi's in the shapes on the Sunday school room wall, getting my class to sing the scale with me...sigh...we sounded like a pack of wolves plagued with strep-throat to begin with, but eventually they all made the same sound of the note I was on, an I'm impressed with their progress.
Rhoda an I went for a long walk tonight...
Then most of us gathered on the lane for popcorn an spike ball...
Twas a nice day...
(Monday June 12th)
Today I did all the laundry...Then I went to my dentist for a check-up, she says I'll get to remove my braces soon! which I'm kinda happy about.
Then I went to the chemist to buy more meds...an ran different errands around town.
We were just at home tonight.
Stan welding...
Dad an Mom an I went to the lake tonight to watch the sunset an have a chat, it was a lovely evening...an kinda nice to have Dad an Mom all to myself! haha
(Tuesday June 13th)
Today I worked on the blog most of the day.
Dad an Mom were out visiting a lady from church that needed to be reproved.
The twins were doing some welding.
In the afternoon I did some baking...then some sewing.
In the evening I went on a walk on ring road
Tonight I made some ranch pretzels, with real gold rold pretzels from America, we had to evenly divide them in small bowls, so everyone had the "same" amount, the three boys guarding their bowls like a hungry dog! yes, foodie family would be a fair term...maybe even an understatement.
Dad an the boys were playing rook, I was sewing again... Mom was doing some spring cleaning in her bedroom an bathroom, while chatting with Sharon on the phone, an so was our evening at home tonight.
(Wednesday June 14th)
Today Dad an Mom went to the Bible Study.
Steve adjusting the piki tire...
The rest of us stayed home.
I did some sewing for a friend of mine...infact I sewed all day, basically remodeling one of her dresses...I was so discouraged with it all, that I was close to tears, an I don't cry alot. so yea, it was bad.
In the evening we had volleyball on the lane, since Stacy had visitors an there were other visitors here as well...I think there were like 15 girls an 4 guys, our little group of the usual 6-7 looked around in awe as we saw how good volley ball can actually be! our group has grown abit since Marlin's came to fill in while Joseph an Becky are on furlough....so they add two youth girls, also, James an Christiana have two girls that arrived several weeks ago, so that's nice to have them around too.
But my brothers sigh alittle, since all us girls are having a blast, an there are not any guys around for them to have "guy times" with. especially with Dean Miller's leaving in several weeks...that means officially no boys even close to their ages....
After volleyball we had snack at Marlins.
(Thursday June 15th)
Welding a rack for someone...
Today we were scheduled to have unit payer meeting in the evening at our house...so most of the day consisted of cleaning up, I think all of us were at home just doing various cleaning up projects around the house.
In the evening our masii friend David came, so the three bros an I took him out to KFC for supper, then got back just as prayer meeting started.
My friend Winnie also came for prayer meeting, an we had a sleep over...
I wasn't able to sleep well tonight at all, so I slept late the next morning.
(Friday June 16th)
With getting very little sleep, I felt worthless today, it was so maddening to be awake at 2am. an not being able to sleep...anyway, today I tried doing some sewing with very little success.
I somehow felt half sick all day...
In the evening I was feeling abit better, so I went walking with Carla an Kalita (Jame's girls) we had a wonderful time.
Wayne with our two ushers...or should I say side-kicks...haha
Tonight, we made supper since our friends Richard an Janet were coming over for supper an to make plans for their wedding...the twins an I are in the bridle party, Dad is preaching an Mom is making the wedding cake, so we all feel rather involved, maybe even more so then feels comfortable...especially the idea of bright yellow dresses, an royal blue shoes....unreal, like are you serious!?...anyway it will be an interesting day for sure!
We also had our Masii friend David here...it was a good evening.
an so ends another blog post....
I'm thinking of doing something alittle different with my blog....I'm thinking of skipping the usual "journal" updates every-now-an-then an writing a life story of one of our members...their life stories are so interesting, the pain, hardship, rejection is so saddening to me, an also encouraging to me to see where they are today...an the thought of sitting down an documenting their life story, an then sharing it with all of you, was an exciting thought to me, but what do you all think? let me know if you think this is a good idea, or something that you would enjoy! email me at: sylvialyn93@gmail.com

Thanks for your interest, as we do life in Kenya,
